The book describe hydraulics as an applied engineering science. It provides the methods of calculation and design of a wide range of hydraulic structures (dams, canals, weirs and pipelines), machinery (pumps, turbines and hydraulic machines) and other devices used in many branches of engineering. It also include an introduction to engineering hydrology, which is defined as the science that treats waters on earth, their occurance, circulation, distribution, their chemical and physical properties and their environment including their relation to living things.
